Girls Weekend and the Prom

A little late, better than never.... I guess.  This was two weekends ago,  I had it half done, so figured I might as well finish it.

With the boys on a basketball road trip, we celebrated Girls Weekend here in Reno! My Mom, the knitter came up to spend a couple of knitting days and I stitched on a back for the Tra La, Tra La quilt.  Here's our progress...

and on to the knitting...  Mom knits stockings for all the family, these for her great grandchildren.  This is 4th generation with knitted stockings, a tradition that started with my grandmother.  It began with a Santa pattern for all the 1st and 2nd Generation, but Mom has made up patterns for all her grandchildren and now the great grands.  What a great tradition, thanks MOM!

Don't you love how Mom fit in the letters on this one with the little "o" above the "L".  Very creative solution Mom!

Here is the prom girl, with her Mom and Gram.

Update on THIS weekend coming soon!

Pink Bunny Death and Giveaway Winner

Here's my latest T-shirt quilt, Pink Bunny Death... the owner is a runner/triathlete.  I really like this one, a little out of the boxish.

Quilted in minky by Margie at Big Pine Quilts, here in Reno, NV.
Oh it is soooo soft.

The giveaway winner in #1, Karen at Mrs Sew and Sew.
I will email you for shipping information.  Looking forward to a sewing filled weekend!

I couldn't figure out how to copy and paste that random number thingy, you'll just have to trust me on it.  :)

Pink and Zebra Quilt Top Ready, and a Zebra Scrappy Giveaway too!

Finished the final seams on this little baby quilt top that is 34 x 46ish" finished size.

If you'd like the scraps from this little baby, leave a comment by this Wed, April 24 and I'll chose a random winner on Thursday or Friday.  It includes a never used bright pink zebra fat quarter, 1/3 yard or so if light pink zebra fabric, black zebra scrap and various other pink, white and black scraps.  I'll include enough for your own baby quilt top and will ship anywhere.

Oh, I forgot to give credit... (kinda nervous about this giveaway thing).  This quilt from book by Victoria Findlay Wolfe, on page 22.  I love her work, find it inspirational, and the book is available on Amazon if you like scrappiness. (not an ad, just the facts.)

Happy stitching.

Getting Carried Away

Here's what's up this weekend, adding border(s) to Tra La Tra La...

Finished the black swirly border and added HST's. Then these hearts by Brandon Mably which I've been admiring on my sewing table for quite a while.

Here's a peek at HST border

and the flying geese

and lastly a shot from my ironing board

I really wanted to incorporate this "Red Thread" fabric as well, but the quilt is nearing king size I fear.

So a pieced back is in order I think.

Have a great Sunday...off to sew.

I linked up to this nice blog today.

Piece

Or maybe I should call it Pieces... I finished sewing this top together today. A SCRAPPY, BRIGHT and COLORFUL spiderweb quilt with over 550 fabrics just in the spider web part of the quilt blocks.

Love all the little things you find in a scrappy quilt... it's like "Where's Waldo?"

Happy stitching!

T-Shirt Quilt Finish... and a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Looking forward to a weekend of stitching nestled in around other family activities and the Final Four this afternoon.  I finished the binding on this quilt last week.  An interesting binding in that I used two contrasting colors to the borders and I sewed it on BACKWARDS before realizing what I'd done.  Too make the most of that debacle I flipped to the front and used a machine blanket stitch to finish.  The finished results are good, very baseballish and very durable.  Isn't it funny how forgiving quilting can be. :)

a beautiful day in the neighborhood as well.

Happy Sewing.

I'm linking to Saturday Sharing Day...
